Hi,
It has been awhile since I posted any write up, due to one or two things that have had me preoccupied, however today I want to address this topic.
Why Jungle Justice?......first of all, what is jungle justice?......jungle(colloquial)..."a place where people behave ruthlessly, unconstrained by law or morality",...justice..."the ideal of fairness, impartiality especially with regard to the punishment of wrongdoing".
Jungle Justice therefore is an act, when a population, precisely an irate mob, takes it into their hands to execute punishment on alleged offenders of a heinous crime. The alleged culprit is hardly ever given the right to a fair hearing and the opportunity to defend himself before the sentence of death by burning and torture is handed down and summarily carried out.
Why will people want to take the law into their own hands when we have the government for that?,....now if I was to come from the religion angle, isn't it wrong to take d law into your hands and carry out judgement on another?, the Bible talks about forgiveness but those that say that they fear and reverence GOD do not even obey HIS word.
It is so annoying and irritating when I see people gang up to beat up a person because he or she stole a phone or stole pepper from the market, and they even go as far stripping them naked and getting tyres and gas to burn that person up and the hilarious thing is that some will take out their phones to take pictures and record such crazy acts.......it makes me wonder how they sleep at night and people say Bokoharam or ISIS don't have an heart, how will they?...when you also can stand for such cruelty to unfold on a fellow man.
I believe the humane thing to do is report and let the government deal with it, let them be the ones to dish out whatever punishment that the culprit deserves. It is so wrong to even stand and watch such brutal act, we are humans, I believe cultured and civilized ones so we should always act as one.
Please let us put a stop to jungle justice, it is animalism in itself , and we are better than that, we do not only represent ourselves but our family, church and most importantly GOD. There is one thing you can always think of when you are pushed to the wall and want to vent, ask yourself this simple question.....what will JESUS do?!
Thanks,
Joy Newman.
